Site Editing Tips And Tricks

Improve your pages with these tips from the experts:

Add 'left' or 'right' to images to flow text around them: [http://www.site.com/pic.jpg (in a new window) left]

Use Search Links to link to internet searches:

  • Link to a Bible reference: [ ??Bible:John 3:16 ]
  • Link to a book on Amazon.co.uk (by ISBN number): [ 1576832899 ]
  • Or search on Google: [ green eggs and ham ]

When you want to use actual square brackets (not create a link), double up the first bracket eg: Ref [3]

Use an exclamation mark before a Link Word to stop it being a link: HelpPages BUT be careful with linkwords in headings, since they also use exclamation marks - put a space between the ! and the text of the heading.

Prefix names like '??McDonald' with '!' otherwise the page will try to make a link to a page called 'Mc Donald'.

To see a list of all pages, enter a single space in the search box and press 'Go'.

Use Plugins to insert parts of one page into another, or to insert a list of all pages linking to a certain page.
